Surgical Technologist
After orientation training, candidate will possess excellent skills in oral and written communication, medical terminology, case study analysis, procedure analysis, surgical OR equipment management and instrument manipulation and dexterity in the area of ophthalmic surgery. Assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. May help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon's assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
Sample of job titles: Surgical Technologist (CST), Surgical Technician, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Operating Room Surgical Technician (OR St), Surgical Scrub Technologist, Surgical Scrub Technician, Endoscopic Technologist, Operating Room Technician (OR Tech)

- Assist with the physical preparation of the OR, creating the sterile field, and maintaining sterile technique during operative procedure.
- Identify and select appropriate packs, trays and accessory/specialty equipment for each surgery.
- Assist with the count of instruments, sponges, needles and other surgical items
- Pass correct instruments, supplies and sutures as needed by surgeon
- Prepare specimens for submission of pathological analysis

Patient Scheduler
Primary Duties Include:
- First-Response Phones; schedule patients with an understanding of effective scheduling according to appointment flow.
- Understanding of all surgical and clinical services.
- Maintain a consistent number of patients in each schedule according to practice goal agreement.
- Edit schedule 2-days prior to date and make reminder calls except for surgery patients.
- Maintain RECALL system according to procedures.
- Excellent use of English language; bilingual helpful
- Compassionate, effective and bright communication skills with extraordinary care in mind
- Ability to work well with others: patients, staff, administrator, doctors
- Able to type 40+ words a minute; computer literate.
- Medical terminology, medical or ophthalmology background helpful

What to bring with you!
Make the most of your appointment time. Your Doctor will want to review your medical history as well as address your eye care concerns. You will get more out of your appointment if you stop now and prepare.
1. Bring any eyeglasses or contact lenses you currently wear.
2. Bring a list of all current medications.
3. Bring a list of serious illnesses or surgeries in your past.
4. Bring a list of your current illnesses or report on your wellness program.
5. Bring your insurance card and referral from your primary Doctor if your insurance requires a referral. Or, if you are paying cash, bring your credit card or checkbook. Payment will be expected at the time of your appointment and on the day of surgery. You may wish to take advantage of CareCredit or ChaseHealthAdvance, and can apply on-line before your appointment.
