Dr. Bruce Wietharn brings a bright, professional intensity to The Harman Eye Clinic. His patients enjoy his in depth explanations and education of possible treatment alternatives. Dr. Wietharn joined The Harman Eye Clinic in 2004.

Dr. Wietharn performs refractive surgery including CustomVue iLASIK, PRK, medical laser surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange, Cataract Surgery with standard or premium upgrade multifocal lenses and works very closely with our co-managing doctors throughout the northwest to bring about the best in eye surgery and the convenience of local postoperative are.

He is a seasoned surgeon and holds impressive credentials. Dr. Wietharn believes, along with his partners, Dr. Harman and Dr. Ballon, that the relationship between doctor and patient is the most important element to successful eye surgery.

Dr. Wietharn is Board Certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, completed at Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA. His Residency in Ophthalmology was completed in June of 2003 at the University of Florida. Dr. Wietharn's transitional internship took place at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He received his Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA, 1996. Dr. Wietharn holds a bachelor of arts degree in biology, and graduated in 1991 from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Wietharn served as a lieutenant, Medical Corps, U.S. Navy, and served here in Bremerton as a Senior Medical Officer, Medical Department Head, and Radiation Health Officer. Dr. Wietharn oversaw all issues pertaining to health & safety of a crew in excess of five hundred sailors. He was deployed to the Persian Gulf for operations DESERT STRIKE and SOUTHERN WATCH (1996). Dr. Wietharn was deployed to Central America for five months to counter-drug operations in 1998. He was Senior Medical Officer afloat for 1998 deployment task force, with responsibility for the health of over one thousand sailors on several ships.

Dr. Wietharn has also served as Primary Care Physician in Everett, Naval Branch Medical Clinic. He received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service while serving as Medical Officer in USS California from August 1996 to July 1999. As Medical Officer in USS California, spearheaded the creation of a shipboard health promotion program that was twice awarded the Navy's "Green H" award for excellence.

Make the most of your appointment time. Your Doctor will want to review your medical history as well as address your eye care concerns. You will get more out of your appointment if you stop now and prepare.

1. Bring any eyeglasses or contact lenses you currently wear.

2. Bring a list of all current medications.

3. Bring a list of serious illnesses or surgeries in your past.

4. Bring a list of your current illnesses or report on your wellness program.

5. Bring your insurance card and referral from your primary Doctor if your insurance requires a referral. Or, if you are paying cash, bring your credit card or checkbook. Payment will be expected at the time of your appointment and on the day of surgery. You may wish to take advantage of CareCredit or ChaseHealthAdvance, and can apply on-line before your appointment.
