All About iLASIK
The Harman Eye Clinic is a group of vision correction specialists. The Harman Eye Clinic has helped people to eliminate their needs on glasses and contacts by offering LASIK to their patients. Years of experience and dedication have helped The Harman Eye Clinic become a leader in Washington for ophthalmology. The doctors of The Harman Eye Clinic make sure that every patient's procedure is performed at the highest standards to ensure better vision.
What is LASIK?

A computerized system determines how much the shape of the cornea needs to be changed. Your doctor will control the computer to make sure the accurate measurements are being made. Each person has a different corneal shape so each procedure is different. Numerous tests will be performed before the actual procedure to make sure that the accurate measurements are taken to ensure better vision after LASIK.
During LASIK, creating the corneal flap is the first step and one of the most important. The skilled hand of the surgeon will use the IntraLase laser to create a small flap that will be lifted back during the procedure. You are then moved into place under the VISX laser, and it delivers a calculated number of pulses to in a custom pattern to successfully alter the shape of your cornea.
After the surgery is complete, the corneal flap is than placed back into its regular position. The flap will naturally adhere to the cornea without the need for stitches. The natural pumping action of the endothelial cells make sure the flap stays in place.
The shape of the cornea is now custom designed. The new shape allows the rays of light to hit more directly on the retina and better images are viewable. Many LASIK patients notice a substantial improvement directly after the procedure. However, your vision will continue to improve over the course of the next few weeks. Your doctor will provide you with both anti-biotic and steroid drops to make sure your eyes are healing properly and that there is no infection.
Follow-Up after LASIK
As with any procedure it is important to follow the instructions provided by your doctor after surgery. To ensure the healing is taking place properly, you will have follow-up appointments with your doctor. He will examine your eyes and make sure they are healing correctly. Typically, follow-up appointments are one day, one week, one month, 3 months, 6 months and one year. Your doctor may request additional appointments as needed and you are always welcome to come in if you have any concerns.
